Another trick from the book to get more ranking power to the page is to help google or other search engines understand better the images that you include in your pages. If done right you will also rank higher in image search with that terms.
Now, in order to give a page more value, it’s a no-brainer that if to add an image to the content will make it more interesting and appealing to the reader. It will also make it more appealing to google eyes if you respect the following:
- Add image title (used to describe the image content in a few words, best if you also use related page keywords)
- Rename the image with a long term keyword that you use in that specific page also. (Best if you name it as the title of post). If you have multiple images, you should rename it with it’s coresponding section title. (Sidenote: use page keywords in your subtitles).
- Most of us download the images from online sources, that will mark the image with it’s source location, if you want your image to be considered unique, you should edit the image, change it’s size also (recommended anyway that all your images are same size, it will help your readers to get used with a pattern). Read more about how google handle images and how they find where same image it’s used on other websites also. You can read here on how to change that so your image can be treated as unique or at least similar (avoid same match, as it will not help your ranking).
- Add tags to your image, as on web pages, you can add keywords to your image, to help google better categorieze it, you can combine both image keywords with it’s description but also with keywords for that specific page or section.
